Group Activities
Every Friday, the AR group spent the whole day doing fun stuff. We went on tours of different research facilities, held some intense competitions, and played lots of games. But don't take my word for it...

Here we are at the REEF Center touch tanks. We spent about half a day there touching weird animals and learning about marine bio from a hilarious guy named Scott.
One day, we built boats out of cardboard and duct tape and raced them... kind of. Here, Juliana and I are working on our excellent boat. It was a difficult task, but as the very wise Mike Carey once said, "boat design is boat design." (It's a long story... we don't really understand Mike).
Left: Nhat, Juliana's mentor, inspected our final product very carefully.
Right: Nhat and I get in our boat.
Left: Rowing.
Right: Uh...

We spent two mornings making LED boxes with an electrical engineer named Joe. Here I am soldering something.
In these pictures, Ross, Mike, and I are wearing matching shirts. But more importantly, we are wearing virtual environment goggles that researchers use to conduct psychology experiments. The goggles made us feel like we were battling terrible storms, falling into pits, and even allowed us to play virtual, life-size pong.
For some of us (Ross), Friday afternoon sports were the highlight of the week. The games got pretty intense... Here, Lourdes is about to tag Alex Wang in a rousing game of capture the flag.
