Hi! I'm Wei, class of '08 at Dos Pueblos High School. This summer, between my junior and senior year, I was part of the Apprentice Researchers program at UCSB. I got the opportunity to work under the guidance of a graduate student on my own project, learning about the research process.

I worked in the Vision Research Lab with my mentor Nhat under Professor Manjunath on a type of image processing called image segmentation. My project involved changing the parameters of an algorithm called Graph Cut to optimize the segmentation of retinal images into layers.
