INSET Program Student
Eligibility Requirements and Application Process
This
undergraduate research program is open to any science or engineering undergraduate
student who meets all of the following requirements:
- Is currently
enrolled at a community college in California
- Seniors graduating in June 2008, starting community college in Fall 2008, are ineligible
- Is a US citizen
or permanent resident
- Has satisfied
the following course/unit requirements: (1 semester unit = 1.5 quarter
units)
- Completed
a minimum of 12 semester units in science engineering, and/or social science courses
- Completed
or currently enrolled in a minimum of 4 semester units of Calculus
All
applicants must complete all of the following:

29, 2008 deadline.

(word document). This file does include a letter of recommendation
form (see below)
- A statement of
interest explaining why you are interested in this internship program,
and what you feel you can contribute to it. Be specific: for example,
you might discuss how a particular experience or person inspired you
to study science. You should also include a discussion of our future
academic and career plans. Your essay should be typed, and at most
one page long.
- A copy of your
unofficial college transcript.
- A letter of recommendation
from a course instructor, TA, or employer who is familiar with your
scientific skills. You may send up to 2 letters, but only 1 is required.

- Your application
form, statement of interest, transcript(s) and recommendation letter(s)
may all be submitted via e-mail to inset@cnsi.ucsb.edu.
Acceptable file formats for attachments are MS Word and Adobe Acrobat
(pdf) only.
